Concorde and the Boeing 787 are recognizable aircraft because they answered different questions. Concorde pursued faster passenger journeys through supersonic flight. The 787 was developed for efficient long-haul service with a twin-engine widebody design. Comparing them is more useful than treating either as the single definition of progress.
